COMPANY PROFILE


Jalpower Corporation Limited was incorporated on 25th August 2004 under the Companies Act 1956 (1 of 1956) with its registered office at Hyderabad. The company was acquired by NHPC Limited through Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process (CIRP) in March, 2021 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of NHPC developing Rangit-IV HE Project in Sikkim. The project is located on Rangit River near Rishi village, West Sikkim and is a run-of-the-river scheme envisaging construction of a 44m high concrete gravity dam to generate 120 MW (3x40MW) of power. The estimated design energy of the project is 507.88 MUs in a 90% dependable year.


MAIN OBJECTS OF THE COMPANY

1. To carry on the business of establishing and generating electrical power by conventional, nonconventional methods including hydel, geo-hydel, wind, tidal waves, coal, gas lignite, thermal, solar, garbage, poultry waste bio-mass, diesel generator sets, naptha based or any other source or through such other sources hereafter invented in connection with a generation of electricity or any power that can be used as substitute thereof.

2. To promote, own, acquire, erect, construct, establish, maintain, improve, manage, operate, alter, carry on, control, take on hire/lease, power plants, co-generation power plants, energy conservation projects, power houses, canals, transmission and distribution systems for generation, distribution , transmission and supply of electrical energy and buy, sell supply, exchange, market, function as a license and deal in electrical energy and buy, sell, supply exchange, market, function as a license and deal in electrical power, energy to the State Electricity Board, State Government, Appropriate Authorities, licensees, specific industrial units and other consumers for industrial, commercial, agricultural, household and any other purpose in India and elsewhere in any area to be specified by the State Government, Central Government, Local Authority, State Electricity Boards and any other competent authority in accordance with the provision of Indian Electricity Act, 1910 and /or Electricity (supply) Act, 948 or any other statutory modifications or reenactment thereof and rules made thereunder.

3. To initiate, organize, and to carry on the function, operations business of power plants, electrical engineers, manufacturing, import or export of all kinds of power plants, heavy and light electrical machinery and electrical apparatus for power generation and transmission and related business.

4. To carry on the business of generating, accumulating, distributing and supply of electricity for the purpose of light, heat , motive power and for all other purposes for which electrical energy can be employed and to manufacture and deal in all apparatuses and things required for or capable of being used in connection with the generation, distribution, supply, accumulate on and employment of electricity, including in the term electricity all power that may be directly or indirectly, derived there from, or may be incidental hereinafter discovered in dealing with electricity.

5. To carry on the business of research, design, prepare and supply technical know-how and to act as consultants, advisors and to conduct installation, servicing and maintenance of and to acquire any rights including rights in power generating units and allied products.

Sanjay Kumar Singh, Director (Projects), NHPC, has assumed additional charge of the post of Chairman of Jalpower Corporation Limited, a wholly owned subsidiary company of NHPC Ltd with effect from 11th July 2025. He currently chairs the Boards of NHPC Renewable Energy Limited and serves as Nominee Director on the Boards of Ratle Hydroelectric Power Corporation Limited and Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited—joint ventures of NHPC and JKSPDCL.

Singh has been serving as Director (Projects) of NHPC Ltd since 24 July 2024. Prior to joining NHPC, he was Chief General Manager at SJVN Ltd. A Civil Engineer by qualification, Singh brings with him over 33 years of rich and varied experience in the power and infrastructure sector, particularly in the execution of mega and prestigious hydropower projects in India and Bhutan.

In his earlier career at SJVN, Singh held key leadership roles, including Head of Projects at Sunni Dam HEP (construction stage), Naitwar Mori HEP (construction stage), Luhri HEP Stage-II (survey & investigation stage), and Jhakhol Sankri HEP (survey & investigation stage). He also served as Chief Executive Officer of STPL, a wholly-owned subsidiary of SJVN Ltd. Notably, he was instrumental in the construction of major components of Indias largest hydropower project, Nathpa Jhakri HEP (1500 MW), Himachal Pradesh; Tala HEP (1020 MW), Bhutan; and in pre-construction activities of Devsari HEP, Uttarakhand.

Shri Sandeep Batra is B Tech (Civil Engineer) from G B Pant University, Pant Nagar. He also holds Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management.

Shri Sandeep Batra has 35 years of experience in Hydropower Development encompassing Survey and Investigation, DPR preparation, Cost Engineering, Contracts, Dispute resolutions, Construction Project Management, Quality Assurance as well as Operation and Maintenance of Hydro Power Stations.

He has had two stints at Arunachal Pradesh where he first handled survey & investigation at Middle Siang (Siyom) project under extremely challenging circumstances at a very remote location. He was later posted at Subansiri Project, which was the largest under construction Hydro Project of the country at that time.

He has also worked at Chenab Valley Power Projects Ltd. in the capacity of Chief Engineer where he successfully handled tendering of major Civil, Hydro-Mechanical, Electro-Mechanical works of three large hydro projects simultaneously apart from tendering for consultancy works and procurement. He also has experience of operation, maintenance, renovation and modernization works taken up at Sewa-II, Chamera and Baira-Siul Power Stations.

He is at present heading Corporate Planning Division and Environment & Diversity Management Division at Corporate level. He is also serving as Director in the Boards of NHPC subsidiaries Jal Power Corporation Ltd., Loktak Downstream Hydroelectric Corporation Ltd, APGENCO NHPC GREEN Energy Ltd. (ANGEL).


Mr. Rajneesh Agarwal

Shri Rajneesh Agarwal, is currently working as Executive Director (Pumped Storage Projects, NHPC Nepal Projects, and Project Investigation) of NHPC Ltd. A graduate in Civil Engineering from IIT, Roorkee with QIP Specilization from IIT Delhi, he has an experience of over 36 years in survey and investigation, design and engineering, construction and operation & maintenance of hydroelectric projects. He has worked as Head of the Project of 480 MW Uri Power Station and 540 MW Chamera-I Power Station in the past. He has played critical role in devising the business strategy and consultancy business vertical of NHPC Ltd. He was also the Secretary of the NHPC Task Force for development of 02 large hydroelectric projects in Myanmar and is heading NHPC’s global endeavour of development of 03 large hydroelectric projects in Nepal. He has attended Transfer of Technology program with Coyneet-Belier, France in design of dams. He is presently responsible for commencing implementation of Long Duration Energy Storage Projects (LDES) in 05 States (within India).

He was also a member of the Indian Delegation to World Energy Congress at Abu Dhabi. He is the Nominee Director of NHPC on the Board of PTC India Ltd and Jalpower Corporation Ltd.


Shri Anuj Kapoor

Shri Anuj Kapoor is an Associate Member of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India and also holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce from the University of Delhi. He is also holding the position of Nominee Director on the Board of the NHPC Renewable Energy Limited since 01.05.2023. Presently, Shri Kapoor is serving as Executive Director (Finance) in NHPC Limited w.e.f. 08.05.2023. Shri Kapoor has vast experience of more than 32 years in NHPC Ltd. and worked in various capacities at many Projects, Power Stations, Regional Office and Corporate Office of NHPC. Shri Kapoor has immense understanding in the core areas of Finance with in-depth understanding and knowledge of Financial, Contractual and Regulatory issues involved in construction as well operations of Hydro Projects. His leadership qualities, ability to work hard with conceptual clarity and professionalism are outstanding.

He joined the Board of Jalpower Corporation Limited w.e.f. 1st May, 2023.


Smt. Manjusha Mishra

Smt. Manjusha Mishrais graduate in Civil Engineering from GEC, Bilaspur in 1996 and subsequently acquired M.Tech degree in Water Resource Engineering from IIT Delhi. She is working in Design & Engineering Division of NHPC Limited since 1998 and is involved in hydrological & hydraulics aspect of all hydropower projects and Power Stations of NHPC in India & abroad along with dam safety aspect of Parbati-III Power Station of NHPC. She is Nodal Officer for implementation of Early Warning System for all the Projects/Power Stations in Hilly Region. She is representing NHPC for Projects falling under Indus Water Treaty internationally as well as in high level meetings. She has published and presented papers in various International and National forums/Journals such as International Commission on Large Dams (ICOLD), India Water Week, Hydro Power & Dams, Dam India, Dam safety Conferences, Water Power etc. She has also participated as a speaker in G20 meet in Chennai on use of Disruptive technology in Disaster Resilience. She has been a member of Technical Committee on Sedimentation in ICOLD and BIS Committee on Hydrometry and Reservoir & Lakes. Currently, she is posted as General Manager (Civil) in Design & Engineering Division of NHPC Limited.

Smt. Mishra joined the Board of JPCL w.e.f. 20.08.2021.

Jalpower Corporation Limited (JPCL) is a wholly owned Subsidiary Company of NHPC Limited w.e.f. 31st March, 2021. Consequent to its takeover by NHPC Limited it has become a Government Company within the definition of Section 2(45) of the Companies Act, 2013. According to the Articles of Association of the Company, the strength of the Board shall not be less than 3 (three) and not more than 15 (fifteen) Directors.
